Free Buprenorphine Waiver Trainings from NYC Department of Health

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is currently offering free Half-and-Half Buprenorphine Waiver Trainings.

Buprenorphine is an effective medication for treatment of opioid use disorder. With a waiver, physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants can prescribe buprenorphine in office-based primary care settings.

In order to apply for a waiver, physicians are required to complete an eight-hour training. Nurse practitioners and physician assistants must take 24 hours of trainings (including the physician 8 hour training). This half-and-half training, consisting of four hours of online training and four hours of in-person training, fulfills the eight-hour training requirement.
