Now Available: QPP Hardship Exception Application for 2017 Transition Year

CMS announced the availability of Quality Payment Program (QPP) Hardship Exception Application for 2017.

MIPS eligible clinicians and groups can now submit for a hardship exception for one of the following reasons:

  • Insufficient internet connectivity
  • Extreme and uncontrollable circumstances (Natural disaster in which the Certified EHR Technology was damaged or destroyed, practice closure, severe financial distress, or EHR certification/vendor issues)
  • Lack of control over the availability of Certified EHR Technology

Once an application is submitted, clinicians will receive a confirmation email. If the application is approved, clinicians may qualify for a reweighting of their Advancing Care Information category score.

Please note: Clinicians can determine their eligibility by using this web-based tool. MIPS eligible clinicians who are considered “Special Status” do not need to submit a QPP Hardship Exception Application.
