              Check MIPS 2019 Preliminary Eligibility

              February 11, 2019

Providers can now use the Quality Payment Program (QPP) Participation Status Tool to view preliminary eligibility status for the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) 2019 performance period. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services determines eligibility by reviewing PECOS data and Medicare Part B claims for services rendered during two 12-month periods.

The tool currently shows preliminary 2019 eligibility status based on data from October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018.  Later this year, CMS will update the tool to reflect final 2019 MIPS eligibility status based on data from October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019.

Access the QPP Participation Status Tool here and enter your National Provider Identifier (NPI) to view your status.

              Eligibility Thresholds

CMS has updated the eligibility thresholds for the 2019 performance year. Providers are expected to participate in MIPS in 2019 if, during either segment of the MIPS determination period, they:

              • Bill more than $90,000 in Medicare Part B services, or
              • See more than 200 Medicare Part B patients, or
              • Provide more than 200 services to Medicare Part B patients.
