Providers should check their MIPS eligibility for performance year 2019 as soon as possible; MIPS-eligible providers must submit data or receive a negative adjustment in Medicare Part B reimbursements.
Providers who are MIPS-eligible for 2019 but do not submit data for 2019 will receive a negative seven percent adjustment in Medicare Part B reimbursements in 2021. Providers who do submit data and score highly across the MIPS performance categories will be eligible for a positive adjustment.

Program Dates
Performance year 2019 ends on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 and performance year 2020 begins on Wednesday, January 1, 2020. MIPS-eligible providers will submit performance data for 2019 between January 2, 2020 and March 31, 2020.
If your practice would like to apply for a hardship exemption
from performance year 2019, apply by December 31, 2019 at: https://cmsqualitysupport.service-now.com/exception_application.do.
Reasons for exemptions include practice closure, bankruptcy of practice, or
decertification of the practice’s EHR.
