The Mental Health Service Corps (MHSC) places full-time, fully-funded, masters-level mental health counselors and social workers in primary care sites to close gaps in behavioral health services. MHSC behavioral health clinicians provide culturally and linguistically appropriate assessment, screening, and treatment for primary care patients in the following areas:

• Depression
• Anxiety
• Alcohol and substance use disorders
• Tobacco cessation
• Chronic pain
• Stress management
• Non-adherence to medication or prescribed follow-up for physical conditions
• Behavioral modification to promote healthy lifestyle
• Behavioral issues in children

Eligible sites must be able to provide a private space for the MHSC clinician to see patients, allow them to access the practice’s EHR, and establish processes for them to meet a requirement of 20 to 25 patient-facing clinical hours per week.
