Winter Health and Safety Training

Join NYU Langone Health CHW Research and Resource Center on Thursday, December 11th, 12:00 – 1:00 pm EST for a virtual training facilitated by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) on Winter Health and Safety. This training is tailored for community health workers, engagement staff, or any interested public health professional curious about climate change. Discussions will revolve around emergency preparedness for power outages, energy insecurity and financial assistance programs, indoor and outdoor safety, as well as recognizing symptoms of hypothermia and frostbite

At the end of training, participants will:

  • Engage in NYC’s environmental justice initiatives and conversations.
  • Deliver this training to their community partners.
  • Understand how extreme weather impacts their role as a public health worker.

Attendee insights will advance DOHMH’s growing community climate resiliency initiatives. Simultaneous Spanish interpretation will be provided.
