Collecting accurate demographic data is a foundational step to advancing health equity. It is important that medical offices, health centers, and hospitals have strong, patient-centered processes in place. This program provides training and assistance to improve patients’ race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity information collection. It is the goal of NYC Health Department that all healthcare organizations maintain 80%+ collection rate for race and ethnicity, and have also implemented collection of sexual orientation and gender identity.
