The NYC Health Department’s Office of Health Insurance Services (OHIS) launched a new public awareness campaign encouraging New Yorkers to keep themselves and their family healthy by signing up for low- to no-cost health insurance through the department’s free health insurance enrollment services. Through the campaign, the department seeks to expand health insurance coverage among underserved communities, making affordable health services more accessible to those who need them most. In total, over 5 million people in New York City are currently insured through low- or no-cost health insurance plans. Many of these New Yorkers may be eligible to renew or assess their options for health insurance in the near future. Campaign ads will run through the end of June in 13 languages on social media, in newspapers, and on LinkNYC kiosks. View the campaign flyer here.
OHIS provides free enrollment assistance through certified counselors to support individuals and families in enrolling in low- or no-cost health insurance through the New York State Health Marketplace. Enrollment counselors offer guidance on health insurance and care options, assist with choosing a health plan and primary care provider, and help with renewing health insurance. Additionally, enrollment counselors can help with applications for other benefits, including SNAP. Services are available in multiple languages and accessible to everyone, regardless of immigration status.
The campaign supports our mission to make healthcare affordable and accessible for every New Yorker by connecting underserved residents to low- or no-cost health insurance options and essential health care services, including primary, specialty, and mental health care, at a critical time as federal policy and funding changes continue to threaten coverage access and affordability for many New Yorkers.
We appreciate your support in expanding our outreach and engagement to ensure that all New Yorkers, especially those from underserved communities, are informed about affordable health insurance options and have access to enrollment support.
How you can inform your community members:
- Encourage community members to visit nyc.gov/healthcoverage or call 347-665-0214 for more information or to connect with an enrollment counselor.
- Display our toolkit educational materials, which include updated flyers and posters, in your office. Material can be found here: Health Insurance Action Toolkit.
